John Wheelock, DDS
Originally from Roanoke, Virginia, Dr. John Wheelock earned a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from Virginia Tech in 2013. Following graduation, a transformative experience volunteering at a free dental service project with family led to a career change. He pursued dental education at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry in Richmond, Virginia, graduating in 2020 and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society.
During dental school, Dr. Wheelock developed a strong interest in oral and maxillofacial surgery, dedicating free time to surgical clinics and shadowing residents in emergency departments and operating rooms. He secured a categorical position with ChristianaCare Health System’s Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency in Wilmington, Delaware during his fourth year. Over four years, he gained extensive experience in maxillofacial trauma, pathology, TMJ disorders, orthognathic surgery, intravenous sedation, third molar surgery, complex bone grafting, and implant procedures.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Dr. Wheelock enjoys spending time with his fiancée, Alina, who is currently a resident in emergency medicine at the University of Arizona in Tucson. They both share a passion for exploring new restaurants and embracing the natural beauty of Arizona.
